Savassi Festival is a jazz and instrumental music festival created in 2003 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Born as a community festival, Savassi is the name of the region where the festival started, with an open air stage. Directed by "Café com Letras" a local cafe and cultural producer powerhouse, the festival outgrew its initial aims and expanded toward the whole city, then to other cities. In 2013 the festival did its first New York edition, promoting 20 concerts and 5 workshops, in collaboration with America's Society, Ney York University Steinhardt and Columbia University. In its New York edition the festival is completely focused on Brazilian Instrumental Music, be it played by Brazilians or non-Brazilians, celebrating the uniqueness and power of our music
The main goal of Savassi Festival is to help artists develop their creative projects and to bring that work to the public.
